Natacha’s lovely day

The Encounter

Today, a meeting that we describe as ordinary, as we met through a dating site. As they say on this site, "I added him to my cart," nothing very glamorous. But today, I am very happy that this site allowed me to make this encounter !

The Proposal

At the beginning of our relationship, marriage was not at all in our plans. I had been a single mother for a few years, so I needed time to be sure of my feelings and his. Then days, weeks, and months passed, and it became evident. We felt the strength of our relationship growing day by day. So, 2 years of living together and a baby later, my daughter and I decided to propose to him on Christmas Day, December 25, 2019. It was wonderful !

The Most Memorable Memory of Our Beautiful Day

We were surprised to have the phone ring in front of the church altar. My grandparents couldn't come due to health conditions and their advanced age, and we didn't want to take any risks. So, they were the ones calling us, and it had been arranged with other relatives. Knowing they were near me during that moment and that they had the chance to see our ceremony via video was a very emotional moment.

The Venue, the Atmosphere

Our ceremony took place in the garden of my partner's uncle and aunt. With COVID, no venues were available, and due to time constraints, it was not possible for us. We wanted to enjoy it and absolutely do not regret it!

So, we created a simple decoration, in our image, in a marquee. Each guest table corresponded to a city that had marked and mattered to our relationship, but the common thread was still France and Italy, representing our two favorite countries.

It was also important to me to have a touch of red, a color that inspires love and passion. It was obvious to add this touch of color because it represents us very well.

The Choice of the Dress

I chose my dress with my mom in May 2020 at the "Déclaration Mariage" boutique in Sceaux. It's called the Cosmobella dress.

For the choice of my dress, I only went to one boutique. I tried about 5 dresses during the appointment, then my precious one arrived. It appeared as an obvious choice. As soon as I stepped out, I saw my mom's eyes filled with tears, so I immediately understood: it was the one and no other!

I would advise putting aside the choices you initially set and let the designer take over. Sometimes, it's a completely different dress that you choose! In the end, I did not regret organizing this appointment only with my mom. I was able to truly choose my dress. I think that doing it with many people, subconsciously, you want to please them and therefore resemble their choices rather than your own.

The Creation of the Shoes

For my shoes, it wasn't very easy. Firstly, I had a very clear idea in mind: red 10cm heels.

In theory, it may seem easy, but since I wear a size 34, the search quickly became complicated. Generally, I have a lot of difficulty finding shoes. Then, after several trials and internet searches, I came across the site "Dessine-moi un soulier" (Draw me a shoe). I didn't hesitate for a second to make an appointment; I knew I would find what I wanted here! One Saturday, I asked my daughter to accompany me to the store to help me choose the shape despite my few hours of creation on the site!

The saleswoman, very nice, welcomed us to the store. She didn't know that these were shoes intended for a wedding, so she directed me to a round-toe model. It was very pretty but didn't match my dress at all, whereas the pointed toe would enhance it and complete my outfit. So, we settled on that model. Then, she suggested adding a silver sequin strap for a touch of "light" and also to keep the foot comfortable throughout the day. On a 10cm heel, this was significant.

Nine weeks later, my precious shoes arrived... and there, tears of joy flowed! I felt like I was in slippers! The guests loved this little touch of color, and especially the small feet of our families took down the contact information and the website !

Tips from our bride Natacha

My first advice is to surround yourself with the right people. For us, this was vital. We found ourselves in the midst of a pandemic, so the preparations were complicated. It was necessary to calm our fears, and they were there for us.

My second advice is to go for it as soon as you have an idea. Listen to yourself, and want to please yourself. It's your day, and even if the desire to please is great, don't forget that you are getting married for yourselves!

My final advice is to prepare the groom-to-be. He may tend to realize the wedding and preparations well after you and could be short on time.
