For Carina & Sébastien's wedding, we're taking you on a trip to Portugal, to Sintra near Lisbon.

The meeting
Encounter and demand :
It's almost twenty years since we met in Portugal. Initially friends, our love really began on February 17, 2001. We were dining in a Japanese restaurant near Lisbon when Sébastien proposed. The ring was hidden in a piece of maki.
We were married in civil ceremony for the first time on October 4, 2009. On that day, we each had two witnesses by our side. Then, after 18 years of love, we finally made our dream come true on August 14, 2019. We were united in a religious ceremony in the church, where we also baptized our two children, born in 2011 and 2015.

Location:
For us, celebrating our union in Sintra was an obvious choice. The romanticism of this town definitely didn't leave us indifferent. We got ready at Marmoris Palace, and the ceremony took place at Sao Pedro de Penaferrim church. The reception took place at Quinta dos Pizoes in Colares.
As you can imagine, it was the perfect setting for our wedding and the christening of our two children!
The most memorable moments were the ceremonies, which were celebrated in both languages. "I had previously recorded a surprise dedication, which was broadcast before I entered and opened the church doors. The whole thing was set to the piano notes of Yann Tiersen's Comptine d'un autre été (Amélie Poulain) - magic! " .

Shoe design:
My shoes were waiting for me, they were already ready and I didn't need to create them. It was a real coup de coeur on the Dessine-Moi un soulier website. As for the color, "I think all the accessories should match. I particularly prefer soft colors. It's also important to be comfortable with the heel you choose."
Inspiration:
For my dress, I found it in the first boutique, and it was the second one I tried on. It came from a Parisian boutique called Couture Nuptiale. My mother and sister-in-law accompanied me in my choice.
All the decorations (vases, candles, christening linen, dress, for example) were made by me, all the way from France, to create the bohemian chic look we were looking for.
The color was determined by my crush on the shoes. This choice also guided my choice of fabrics for my daughter's dress.
I highly recommend Etsy, I ordered a lot of details there such as bathrobes, hangers or envelope box.

Bride's advice:
"For me, a wedding is perfect when it reflects the bride and groom and the image we want to convey to our guests."
